Youth Speaks Teen Poetry Slam Finals 4.11.09 : Another amazing year at the Youth Speaks Teen Poetry Slam Finals at the SF Opera House!!! Eighteen young brave poets from ages 13-19 years old compete together to move onto the larger national next round of slam poetry contests. Earth Hour at Market Bar SF 03.28.2009 : Earth Hour was March 28th, 2009 the worldwide effort to turn off the lights around the world from 8:30pm to 9:30pm. San Francisco lead the way with innovative events, volunteer opportunties and unrivaled participation. Market Bar hosted bicycle powered music thanks to Fossil Fool's- Rock the Bike, Guella Music, Justin Archuleta Band and even SF Mayor Gavin Newsom was there! Bhutan Crane Treasure Dances : The Black Neck Crane Dance Troupe presents The Treasure Dances of Pema Lingpa- Sacred Dance of Bhutan. "A rare glimpse into the rich cultural heritage of Bhutan." Fourteen distinct dances are all represented here with male and female dancers in the traditional Bhutanese clothing and costumes. Youth Speaks Teen Poetry Slams : Youth Speaks Teen Poetry Slams from March 2008. Semi-finals were held are the MoMa of San Francisco and the Finals at the SF Opera House in front of 3000 people. HBO is filming a documentary on national teen poets this year, keep an eye out for it. The poets are all teenagers from 13-19 years old and some have just started this as a way to verbalize the world they see. The generation can speak for itself!
